Amazing improvement for Wayne, from non runner to fast runner!

Wayne started running around 18 months ago during lock down. He had not run since school so to start off with running was quite a challenge! However, after a few week's he managed to complete a couch to 5k programme which was brilliant going when you consider he had not run for over 20 years! A few week's later myself and Wayne had a chat, Wayne had decided he wanted to work with me in order to help him progress as quickly as possible. I quickly devised a plan to get structure into Wayne and also to correct his paces.

In the last few months I have had Wayne competing in 3 races and with each one he has progressed superbly. First out Wayne competed at the Nettlebed Stinger 10k on May 23rd where he finished in an impressive 44.50, not bad for his first ever 10k! Next, and after some more training Wayne raced at the Chiltern Chase 10k on July 4th in Ewelme, Oxfordshire. Again he finished in an amazing time of 40.54! Wayne's progress has been nothing short of incredible so at this point we decided to try for a sub 40 10k, a very tough barrier to break! Wayne was insistent that he wanted to try for the sub 40 just 4 days later at the Barnes Fitness 10k race on July 8th because he knew that the course at Dinton was better suited to a fast time than the race a few days before. I was not keen to race again so soon but Wayne was insistent so I allowed him to go along. Sadly Wayne did not manage the sub 40 but he still managed a new pb in an incredible time of 40.35! Quite something when you consider he only raced a few days before and was forced to race in blistering heat!

We are now continuing to work together to break the 40 minute barrier in August at Dorney lake. Watch this space to keep up with Wayne's awesome progress, exciting times!
