Amazing improvement from Nicky!

Back in early 2022 Nicky called me because her running had stagnated and she could not find a way to improve her pb's. I always remember our initial chat because I could tell Nicky was very sceptical about how much she could improve. It makes me laugh because straight away it was obvious to me that she was way more talented than she realised. I see this on a regular basis with runners, their training is very poor and yet they are banging out decent times often totally oblivious to how fast they could actually be. This is why when a runner like Nicky contacts me I get very excited, I know straight away I can make a huge difference to them given time.

At the time of our initial chat Nicky's 10k pb stood at 55 minutes and 25 seconds. She set this back in the autumn of 2021. I knew from Nicky's training that this time was nowhere near where she should be at. We started working together in April 2022 and we targeted the Oxford Town and Gown 10k on the 8th of May. Nicky ran well and came home with a new pb of 51 minutes and 11 seconds, over 4 minutes faster than her previous pb. This was an outstanding improvement in such limited time. However, I was well aware that she still had plenty more to give so we teamed up again in the summer of 2022. We targeted the Bierton 10k on the 20th of November 2022 and yet again Nicky absolutely smashed it! She came home with an outstanding 47 minues and 48 seconds, another incredible improvement of over 3 minutes! I knew I was right in my original judgement of Nicky, it was clear she was capable of so much more.

After Bierton I was delighted when Nicky asked if we could continue working together. But this time we decided to target the Milton Keynes Half Marathon in March 2023. But again during this campaign I wanted Nicky to race another 10k, I was well aware that she had yet more to give. On the 11th of February 2023 Nicky attended the Battersea 10k. We had a target in mind and I was very confident Nicky could hit it after seeing her form in training. I am very pleased to announce that Nicky came home in an outstanding 46 minutes and 5 seconds! Another 1 minute and 43 second pb which is simply amazing! To put this into context Nicky has improved her 10k pb by 9 minutes and 20 seconds since we started working together. This is clearly an outrageous improvement and is a direct reflection of what consistent, quality training can achieve. The icing on the cake was victory for Nicky in the 50+ class which made an awesome day even better!

Myself and Nicky are currently continuing to train for the Milton Keynes Half Marathon in March where I am very confident of another huge pb. Watch this space for my next report...........
