Liam has continued to improve since we started training together and it has been a real pleasure to work with him. He has shown an excellent ability to absorb my sessions and the weekly mileage that I have set for him to run.
We targeted the Dorney 10k on the 29th of August and a time of 36 minutes and 0 seconds. After several week's of quality training and looking really awesome, Liam sadly went down with a stomach bug which lingered for 2 weeks. It really knocked the stuffing out of him and we trained as best we could. However, I realised from his data that his pace and strength were not what they once were just a few weeks earlier, very frustrating after showing such amazing form in training.
Liam went to Dorney feeling much better than he had and despite clearly suffering in the last 2 weeks of training he came home with another pb of 36 minutes and 33 seconds, a full 30 seconds faster than his previous best set just a couple of months before! Another nice bonus was the fact that Liam finished in 4th overall, excellent work Liam! Although we missed our target we both felt this was still an excellent time given the problems we had been through.
We are now continuing to train for the Oxford Half in October and hopefully another pb.
