Recently I was contacted by Trish. She had become a little disillusioned with running and part of the reason was because she had found that she was unable to get back to her best race times that she set a few years ago. After a good chat on the phone we decided to target the ASICS London 10k on the 25th of July 21. We have decided to work towards a time of 43 min 0 secs, this would be a sensible target and a little slower than her pb from a few years ago.
Trish is a quality runner and probably much better than she gives herself credit for. Although at this point we have only been working together for 4 weeks she has shown an excellent ability to execute my training sessions.
Because Trish has not raced for a few years I decided to put her into a 5k race at Newbury on the 1st of May to see how she got on. I knew that it would really help me to gain important information as we train towards the main 10k target in July. Although we have only been working together for just 4 weeks I am really pleased to announce that Trish ran an excellent race and came home with a time of 20 min 57 secs! Although this is around 30 seconds off of her best from a few years ago it certainly tells me that we are moving in the right direction.
I am really looking forward to continuing working with Trish and I am very confident of a great 10k time come July, maybe we can even pb.....................watch this space!!
