Excellent debut Marathon for Sian.

As you may have read Sian recently ran a brilliant half marathon pb in February. We have been continuing to train for the Manchester Marathon on the 3rd of April 2022. With an excellent performance at Wokingham behind her we are hoping for a good day come April.

Sadly in the final few weeks of training Sian picked up an ankle niggle which severely restricted her running mileage. However, Sian has an indoor bike so we used it all we could to help maintain fitness. I am a massive fan of cycling in its relation to running, if it is used in the correct way it is nothing but positive for a runners performance. One of the big problems many runners have is that they do not do any form of cross training when they are fit. This will often mean that when they get injured they end up doing no training at all.

Just prior to Manchester Sian was able to start running again and with the bike miles she had put in we were both still confident she could do a good time. I am pleased to report that Sian came home in a brilliant 4 hours 5 minutes and 10 seconds. For her first ever marathon this was a brilliant achievement especially with 3 weeks of training missed. It is very clear that Sian has a great chance of running under 4 hours in the near future. I really hope to work with Sian again, it has been a rewarding journey.
