Huge 10k pb for Daniel!

After training Daniel's club mate Paul to several pb's Daniel contacted me in June of 2021. Daniel had found it impossible to improve and after looking at his training I could see that he had left himself nowhere to go, things needed to change.

We decided that we were going to work together for the London Marathon. This will be Daniel's first ever marathon and after a good chat we set about training with a target time of 3 hours 30 minutes, a very respectable time for a first ever go.

Daniel's improvement over the last 10 weeks has been nothing short of fantastic,so much so that I wanted to get him into a race to assess his form. We decided on the Barnes Fitness 10k at Dinton Pastures on the 12th of June. The problem which so often occurs is that finding a space in a busy training campaign can be difficult. Even though Daniel was in the middle of a 50 mile week we felt that this was a suitable race to run.

Daniel struggles with confidence so pre race we had a good chat to help settle his nerves. Afterwards, I was very happy to hear that he had achieved an excellent time of 43 minutes 47 seconds, knocking a massive 1 minute 29 seconds off his previous best! On top of this Daniel was very tired from work and I have him running an average of almost 50 miles a week, just imagine what he could do with a proper taper!

Watch this space as we move towards London Marathon where hopefully Daniel can achieve at least his target time, exciting times ahead!
