Marathon debut for Daniel and bang on target time.

I have been working with Daniel for a good few months now and we have been working hard to get him into form for London. Seeing as it was Daniels first ever marathon I felt that 3 hrs 30 mins was a sensible target. This would be an excellent debut and I knew it would give us a brilliant base to work from for future campaigns. The marathon is always a very tricky distance, over cook it just a little and an athlete can end up in big trouble, and if that happens even with just a few miles left it is never a good place to be!

In training Daniel was absorbing 50 mile weeks consistently so I knew he had to be going well. Also he was executing my target pace sessions nicely throughout the campaign, these are designed not only for fitness but also to build an athletes confidence as we move towards target. Daniel has been an excellent athlete to work with, I cannot recall him ever missing one of my sessions or getting it wrong. This is a great reflection of the massive improvements he has made since we started working together earlier in the year.

I am very happy to report that Daniel finished the 2021 London Marathon in 3 hrs 30 mins and 50 secs, bang on what we had trained for! Daniel ran the race with excellent consistency which was just what we had talked about in training, very cool!

We are going to continue to work together so keep watching for further updates!
