New Half Marathon pb for Laura at Chelmsford.

Myself and Laura have worked together a few times over the last few years. Sadly though and for sometime, Laura has had a persistent back problem which has prevented her from training properly. However, after working hard with strength training she was finally ready to return to full training back in June of 2021.

In early June we had a good chat and decided to target the Chelmsford Half Marathon on October 3rd 2021. Laura already had been running some easy miles for a few weeks and was also using her bike to keep fit which has been very effective for her in the past. Based on all this I devised a plan to get her into form ready for target. I planned to gradually build her volume each week but I also only gave her speed work every other week in order to protect her back. I knew from previous campaigns that the bike makes a big difference to Laura's fitness therefore with the time we had I knew it was very likely she could pb.

And so it transpired with Laura coming home with a new pb of 1 hour 44 minutes and 41 seconds, over 2 minutes 30 seconds faster than her previous best, awesome! Laura did so well and was over joyed after so many months of injury, it was great see. An added bonus was that Laura finished 2nd in her class which was the icing on the cake of a great day!

Laura has now turned her attention to cross country league, but soon we are going to talk about a new target, watch this space for further updates.
